The weekend before Christmas seems to throw up a number of interesting jobs for the team at O’Shea Plumbing. From sewer blockages to gas leaks…right through to burst hot water units… there’s always something to keep us busy! We work across all areas of Melbourne, VIC and frequently receive calls from people needing our help with plumbing who either reside in or operate business premises in the suburbs of Balwyn, Mt Waverley, Glen Iris and Hawthorn…and, just about everywhere in between!

After we receive an initial request, we will hit the road promptly to be onsite, solving plumbing problems left, right and centre! The Christmas period of 2018 was no exception. Whilst our clients were getting ready to go away or have Christmas parties, our plumbers were still on hand to help in any way possible. What follows is a typical ‘day in the life’ for an O’Shea plumber (especially during peak holiday seasons).

When a client in Glen Iris, called us in a panic (to tell us that their sewer drain was blocked), one of our professionally trained and certified plumbers was quickly sourced to assist. Our plumber went out to the property in question in order to clear an old earthenware drain, making short shift of the problem with our highly effective ‘Ridgid’ drain clean machine (with 100 mm cutting head). He also checked the drain with our ‘Ridgid’ CCTV camera in order to ensure that the drain was clear, providing that extra peace-of-mind for the client.

Once our plumber had finished clearing the client’s sewer drain in Glen Iris, he moved on to a second plumbing job in Mt Waverley. After efficiently fixing the problem at a property in this location, he was able to assist yet another client in Hawthorn. This was his third plumbing job in one day, with ‘nothing too much of an ask’. The client here had a burst hot water unit; our plumber quickly called around to our suppliers for a suitable replacement. After a thorough and safe installation, our client was able to enjoy hot water again.

However, just as our plumber was about to go home for the day a client from Balwyn called with a gas leak. Our trusty team member raced over to test the gas line and to investigate the property in question. He located and fixed a leak in the client’s kitchen (under the stove top). He then performed a gas test from the meter to prove that the gas installation was sound. This meant that the client’s gas was once again safe to use and they were able to cook that all-important Christmas turkey! No matter the season, this is ‘all in a day’s work’ for our reputable team members here at O’Shea Plumbing!
