Plumber Wheelers Hill

Toilets play a crucial role in maintaining community health and hygiene. As technology advances and the market expands, there are now numerous types of toilets and cisterns available.

Each type serves specific purposes; for example, bidets are gaining popularity in Melbourne but require specialised installation due to community safety concerns.

Behind-wall cisterns are crafted to maximise space and aesthetics, but they can pose maintenance challenges over time.

Back-to-wall toilets, as their name implies, snugly fit against the wall, simplifying floor cleaning around the toilet.

The options mentioned above highlight the variety of toilet choices available to accommodate diverse spaces and lifestyles.

Regardless of the type, all toilets eventually develop faults. Some leaks are easily noticeable, while others may require investigation, depending on the specific type of toilet our client has.

O’Shea Plumbing recently received a call from a client concerned about water damage to their bedroom carpet. Initially, they suspected a water mains leak under the house and called in a plumber for investigation.

Upon inspection, Scott noted a bathroom in the adjacent room and examined the toilet next to the leak. It turned out to have a behind-wall cistern with a faulty inlet valve, causing water to spray and overflow into the wall space, ultimately saturating the carpet.

Scott presented repair options ranging from basic fixes to replacing the cistern or even the entire toilet suite. The client opted for the repair, and Scott promptly ordered the necessary materials. Despite the challenges of servicing behind-wall cisterns due to limited space, Scott efficiently addressed the issue and kept the client informed throughout the process.

Our client was so happy that they left a 5-star review for Scott and the O’Shea team.

“Over and above! Scott did an excellent job replacing the mechanism in two faulty toilets. Not an easy fix but he persevered until everything was perfect. And then he even fixed my doorbell which certainly wasn’t part of the job!”
